Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under home confinement.

The former head of state was found guilty of orchestrating a armed takeover in September and sentenced more than a 27-year term in incarceration, but he was staying under confinement pending legal challenges.

Supreme Court justices said that he was aware of a plot which included plans to kill Lula and his VP candidate, his vice-presidential candidate, and to detain and kill Justice Moraes - the High Court judge who has been presiding over Bolsonaro's trial.
